Claude Platform on AWS

Anthropic-operated Claude billed through AWS Marketplace in Claude Consumption Units — AWS procurement with first-party model IDs and lifecycle.

Last verified August 21, 2026 · 2 sources

This is the entry most likely to be confused with something else, so the distinction first:

Claude Platform on AWS Amazon Bedrock
Operated by Anthropic AWS
Model IDs Claude API style (claude-opus-4-6) Bedrock style (anthropic.claude-...-v1:0)
Retirement schedule Anthropic’s AWS’s own
Billing AWS Marketplace, in CCUs AWS, per token

Both run on AWS. Both bill through AWS. They are different products.

Why it exists

Procurement. An organisation that must buy through AWS Marketplace — existing commitment, negotiated terms, consolidated billing — can do that while still getting Anthropic’s first-party platform behaviour rather than Bedrock’s.

CCU billing

Concept Detail
Billing unit Claude Consumption Unit
CCU price $0.01, fixed
Conversion Token usage rated in USD at standard rates, converted at $0.01 per CCU
Cadence Hourly metering; monthly invoices
Payment Arrears only, no prepaid credits
Discounts Applied as fewer CCUs metered
Tax Pre-tax metering; AWS Marketplace handles tax
Cost visibility Real-time breakdown in the Claude Console; AWS Cost Explorer shows aggregate CCU

inference_geo: "us" applies the same 1.1x multiplier as on the first-party API.

Existing Bedrock private offers

If you already have a Bedrock private offer, Anthropic’s documentation says to contact your account representative before starting with Claude Platform on AWS. Discounts cannot be applied retroactively to usage incurred before a private offer is accepted — an easy and expensive mistake.
