Projects
A persistent workspace in the Claude apps that keeps files, instructions and conversation history together for a single body of work.
Last verified August 21, 2026 · 1 source
A Project bundles the context for one body of work: uploaded files, custom instructions and the conversations that belong to it. Open a Project and Claude already knows what you are working on.
What it is for
Projects solve the repetition problem — re-uploading the same brief, re-explaining the same conventions, re-pasting the same style guide at the start of every conversation.
What it is not
- Not a Skill. Agent Skills package a repeatable procedure that Claude loads when relevant, anywhere. A Project is a persistent place with its own context. See Projects vs Skills.
- Not
CLAUDE.md.CLAUDE.mddoes a comparable job for Claude Code, lives in your repository and is version-controlled. Projects live in the Claude apps. - Not shared automatically. Sharing behaviour depends on your plan; Team and Enterprise handle it differently from individual plans.
